Whatever they found, it must have been embarrassing. Was it antisemitism?
After much ado, and ballyhooing; after over twelve months of soul-searching and conducting a thorough examination of why the Democratic Party lost so badly in 2024, the Democratic Party has reached its long-awaited conclusion.
Democratic Party leadership has announced it will not release the results.
“The D.N.C. Is Scrapping Its Report on What Went Wrong in 2024,” admitted Shane Goldmacher for the New York Times last week. “Ken Martin, the Democratic National Committee chairman, ordered the autopsy months ago but is now said to believe that its release would be counterproductive for the party.”
It is perhaps true to form for a political party that hasn’t held a genuine primary since 2008, cheated Bernie Sanders out of the presidential nomination twice, covered for Joe Biden’s diminished capacity, and installed Kamala Harris without giving progressive voters a chance to vote would be reluctant to tell the truth now.
But then again, party leadership is batting a thousand, right? Why fix it when it ain’t broke. The adults are obviously in charge and there is no reason for course correction.
Progressives on social media weren’t pleased.
“Unreal,” complained Democratic Party mega-donor and hype-man Jon Favreau. “The DNC’s actual position is that if the public knew more about what Democrats got wrong in the last election, it would hurt the party’s chances in the next election. How does this rebuild trust between the party insiders and grassroots activists and organizers? Why does the party only trust people with the truth who are part of their insular club? And why on Earth would the DNC think that keeping their promise to release the report would create more of a backlash than announcing that they’re keeping it secret?”
“The dumb party continues to be dumb,” complained Jamie Burkhart. “‘Hey guys, we just won New Jersey. No reason to revisit why we lost all three branches of the federal government last year.’”
Whatever the result of the report was, we can be sure it must have been deeply embarrassing to the Democratic Party.
Else why refuse to release it?
Spiking the report is a much worse sign than progressives might think. Hiding the results means Democratic Party leadership could see no way to spin, polish, or explain away the results.
They must have been really bad.
And since Democrats have refused to release the results of the report, we are free to speculate.
What did they find?
Was it antisemitism?
There have been troubling signs of growing antisemitism on the left in recent years.
“I would say the west is slouching towards open season on Jews. It’s just sick and nobody speaks out against it,” pointed out conservative analyst Victor Davis Hanson this week. “There are three things going on: Open borders and immigration from the Middle East, the corruption of the university that has these Middle East hate Israel programs, and a quarter million people from the Middle East who think it’s their country and can say, ‘From the river to the sea and Hamas,’ right?”
It isn’t as if Hanson is blind to antisemitism on the right. He goes on to point out:
“When I mean slouching toward open season on Jews, then you have Tucker [Carlson] and Candace Owens, almost every major event now in the news. Maduro, we move on him — the Jews. Taking out the Iranian nuclear bomb — the Jews. Charlie Kirk’s death — Jews. 9–11 — Jews. Why do they do that?” Hanson fumed.
And yet, many media analysts on the left refuse to acknowledge the problem — when its coming from so-called progressives.
“Here’s the deal: If you’re a Jew at Turning Point, right, watch out,” MSNBC and notorious Trump-hater Joe Scarborough told his audience this week. “If you’re Ben Shapiro — a guy who got pummeled with more antisemitic trash during the 2016 campaign and beyond — if you’re Ben Shapiro or Mark Levin, man, you have just been totally savaged by the so-called conservatives in this crowd.”
“There’s nothing conservative about them at all,” Scarborough continued. “They’re radicals. They’re not even close to being conservative. But you’re getting absolutely trashed. They’re at Turning Point, but, you know, I guess Jews shouldn’t apply. I don’t know. I guess there’s a problem when you have a guy who’s openly antisemitic attacking Jews, and he gets crushed for that.”
The same could be said of the radicals in his own party.
And judging from the many acrimonious and internecine disputes which have emerged between participants of the recent Turning Point USA event, everyone was given a rather hard time of it.
No one who is being honest can deny which party is having more trouble with antisemitism at the moment. Historically, antisemitism has often been associated with political movements on the right. Globally, antisemitism is often an ideology of right-leaning hate groups.
But right now, in the United States?
The “Free Palestine” protests which have been taking place with more and less vigor since the day Hamas terrorists attacked innocent concert-goers and householders in Israel — not, it should be noted, when Israel began its counter-offensive — have told average Americans all they need to know.
The progressive house is absolutely on fire with antisemitism. Anyone who says or suggests otherwise hasn’t examined the facts, or is attempting to push a different narrative.
Enter Joe Scarbourough. Long a committed cheerleader for the left, Scarborough is not an objective, dispassionate newsman conveying facts. It might be helpful for Democratic Party morale to draw moral equivalency between a few unhappy audience members at an event and a precipitous rise in antisemitic crimes in cities from New York to Chicago. Democratic cities.
But it isn’t true.
More damning, many major left-leaning media outlets let the mask slip in the years since October 7, 2023.
“What did ya’ll think decolonization meant? Vibes? Papers? Essays? Losers.” — Najma Sharif, writer for Soho House magazine and Teen Vogue posted on X on October 7, 2023.
As Hamas terrorists were still murdering, raping, kidnapping, and torturing their victims, the Washington Post’s global opinion editor liked the post.
“The point was: Don’t be squeamish,” marveled Peter Savodnik in horror for the Free Press. “Never mind the Jewish girl being pulled by her hair with blood streaming between her legs. Never mind the women being raped beside the corpses of their friends at a music festival. Never mind the children and babies snatched from their parents.”
“If you can’t handle it, if you condemn it without a preamble or equivocation, you’re an apologist for the Zionist colonizers,” he added.
This wasn’t ages ago. It was 2023.
Antisemitism played some role in the Democratic Party’s losses in 2024. To what extent, we may never know.
